Study: Isolation and characterization of lactose-positive Enterobacteriaceae from preterm neonates in Norwich, England
show Abstracthide Abstract
Faeces of 109 preterm neonates was screened for lactose-positive Enterobacteriaceae using MacConkey agar. Isolates were tentatively identified using API 20E, then characterized fully using whole-genome sequence analyses. Carriage rates were determined for species. Pangenome analysis of K. oxytoca isolates was done, confirming separation of isolates into the three known phylogroups (Ko1, K. michiganensis; Ko2, K. oxytoca; Ko6, K. grimontii).
